Ten thousand field staff, and the job sheet was still on paper
A Flutter CAFM application through which more than ten thousand field staff manage work across 4,300+ locations, live on the App Store and Google Play.
The challenge
AG Facilities Solutions, part of the Al Ghurair Investment group, manages more than 4,300 locations with a field workforce of over ten thousand people and forty years of operating history. That history came with paper-based and desktop-bound workflows: jobs allocated by hand, completion evidenced after the fact, and little real-time visibility for the operations centre. Coordinating business, IT and operations across so many sites was slow, and any mobile tool had to work identically on Android and iOS, ship through the public app stores, and scale to the whole workforce without a long time to market. Any tool that worked in Dubai head office but failed on a site with poor signal or an older handset would have been abandoned within a week.
What we built
Fifteen specialists ran the engagement from discovery and statement of work through design, build and store deployment. We designed and built a cross-platform CAFM application in Flutter and Dart from a single codebase, backed by RESTful APIs with secure authentication and authorisation, so job allocation, checklists, evidence capture and escalation live in every field worker's pocket. The architecture is modular so that new workflows can be added without rebuilding the app. The application shipped through the Apple App Store and Google Play for the whole workforce, with ongoing support after go-live. Discovery started with the field supervisors rather than head office, because the workflows that mattered were the ones people had improvised on paper to get through a shift.
What remains
Field operations run on live data. Jobs are allocated, evidenced and closed on the platform, paper processes are gone, and management sees the whole estate in one place. What remains with AG Facilities is a mobile foundation it owns: one codebase, one API layer and a store presence that future digital initiatives build on rather than start from scratch. The app is not a pilot in a few buildings; it is the way ten thousand people record their working day across 4,300 sites.
